These Banana Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies are a fantastic treat, especially if your counting the calories! They are my go to snack when following a healthy diet at only 64 calories each. I also think they are fantastic healthy treat for toddlers who are looking for their sugar fix!
Get the kids involved in this recipe as its great to encourage their baking skills and so simple to make! Firstly gather your ingredients together! For this lovely recipe you will need: Bananas, Golden Syrup, Vanilla Extract, Porridge Oats, Chocolate chips. Yes it really is that simple!
First things first preheat your oven to 200 degrees (fan). Next find your mixing bowl and add in 2 ripe bananas, golden syrup and vanilla extract. Get the kids to mash together with a fork until smooth. We then add in a teaspoon of ground cinnamon and give it a stir. Weigh out your oats and add to your banana mixture and mix well.
Final Stages of Banana Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
Keep mixing your oat mixture until a dough forms. Once your dough has formed get your baking paper lined tray and divide the mixture out into six balls and flatten. This again is the point where the kids can get involved by placing the chocolate chips on top of the cookies. I think it’s great to get kids baking. They learn life skills as they go along by measuring and weighing and it also creates lovely memories they treasure forever cooking with mum and dad or granny! It can also distract them for five minutes lol!
Once your cookie dough is ready place in the oven for 15mins at 200 degrees (fan). Once baked remove the cookies from the oven and place on a baking tray to cool. Lastly time to enjoy your efforts! Hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Banana & Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
- Mixing Bowl
- Wooden Spoon
- 2 Ripe Bananas
- 1 tbsp Golden Syrup
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 80 grams Porridge Oats
- 1 bag Chocolate Chips
- Preheat Oven to 200 degrees (fan)
- In your mixing bowl add 2 ripe bananas, 1 tbsp golden syrup, 1 tsp vanilla extract and mash together with a fork until smooth.
- Add in tsp of ground cinnamon.
- Next add in your 80g of porridge oats and mix well until a dough forms.
- Get a lined baking tray and divide your dough in to six balls and flatten. At this point you can add some chocolate chips on top.
- Put in the Oven for 15 mins at 200 degrees (fan)
- Remove cookies, let cool and enjoy!
